Mandela Day 18 July 2017.
For Mandela Day this year on Tuesday, the 18th of July 2017, ASIE Personnel decided to contribute our 67 minutes for Madiba by joining Tara Hospital‘s Mental Health Fun Walk.
Their theme for this year was: 6.7km for 67 minutes and the aim of the fun walk was to raise funds that are going to be donated to two NGOs: Ububele & Tallisman.
The morning of the 18th of July was quite chilly and everyone was seeking a spot in the sun waiting for the race to start at 10:00.
We started our 6.7km walk down Coronation road and got quite a big surprise when we saw that we have to walk all the way up Sandton Drive, which is quite an uphill. It’s ok when you are driving in a car, as you don’t realise the steep incline, but as soon as you have to walk/run up Sandton Drive, it’s a different story.
After we have reached the top of Sandton Drive, the rest of the route was a breeze and very refreshing.
The walk ended back at Tara Hospital, and we all felt good after the walk, not only did we helped Tara Hospital raising funds, but we also did something for ourselves. After the walk, we were all starving and awarded ourselves with a late breakfast at Tashas, which was delicious. 🙂
